Moss Institute Monster Kawasaki rider Meghan Rutledge rode amazing in the mud with a clean sweep of all five races to take out her first ever Australian Womens MX Championship in her first year of senior competition.

The 2011 Motul Pirelli Australian Womens Motocross Championship was held at the Coolum Pines Motocross circuit with heavy overnight and morning rain turning the usual deep loamy surface into a black murky swamp.

The rain eased into showers which came and went throughout the day but once the track broke through the top surface after practice it began to become sloppy as more laps were put down by the riders.

Sixteen year old Rutledge was full of smiles after her dominating performance in her final race "I am stoked, it's my first year of seniors so it's such a big thing for me. It's been my aim all year to get this championship and I am so proud I could accomplish it," an excited Rutledge explained.

"A huge thanks to my mechanic Ben, TC and the rest of the Monster Energy Kawasaki team for supporting me. Also Moss Institute Coaching, without Greg there's no way I would have been up here," she added.

FACTORY KAWASAKI RIDER JESSE DOBSON SIGNS WITH FOX.
Jesse Dobson has signed a two year deal with Fox, Alpinestar and Procircuit.
Just after signing a factory deal with Kawasaki, Dobson was approached by Monza Imports and asked to come on board. "Mick Sinclair from Monza gave me a call and asked if I would like to ride for them. The deal was too good. I love the Fox gear, it looks awesome and feels great". said Dobson.
Jesse just received his 2012 Kawasaki 250f's and will start testing over the next couple of weeks.
The year has been huge for Dobson already, with winning the New Zealand Nationals, the Qld State Titles and spending five weeks in the US, where he qualified first for Loretta Lynns at one of the qualifying rounds. His focus has now turned to the Australian Junior Nationals, being held at Murray Bridge in South Australia in October.
Dobson has won Australian titles on two different brand of bikes before and has said that the Kawasaki is the best bike he has ever rode, which makes his job a bit easier. A big thankyou goes out to Kawasaki Australia, Fox, Alpinestar, MPE, Kwala, Ninetwo decals, Goodridge, Shell, Procircuit, Michelin, Link and Crazy Dog Kawaski for helping and the use of their dyno tune.

As the dust settled at the MX Pines Motocross track in Coolum, QLD on Sunday 31 July, Monster Energy Kawasaki walked away from the 2011 Australian Motocross Championship with a podium in both the Pro Open and Pro Lites classes. Billy Mackenzie rode to a 2nd place finish for the round to take 3rd in the Championship in the Opens class and Phil Nicoletti continued his late series charge to take 4th for the round and 3rd in the Lites Championship. After holding the series leading Red Plate for the majority of the series, Opens rider Dean Ferris was forced to retire early from a round for the second week in a row resulting in a 4th place finish at series end.

With his 3rd place finish at the Australian MX Championship this year, Billy Mackenzie adds more silverware to an already highly decorated career that includes World GP victories however he is the first to concede that the Championship didn’t go entirely as he had planned. His renowned and demoralising speed throughout the series resulted in multiple race and round wins however it was to be the injury hampered rounds that cost the Scotsman the Championship. Mackenzie rode strong at Coolum to take 2nd place for the round, securing himself a podium finish to the series.

Billy Mackenzie says, “This series for me wasn’t the best. I really wanted to win the Championship after finishing 2nd last year. The competition was strong this year and we made too many mistakes. I picked up three injuries this year and had three bad rounds so it’s been tough but we came away with 3rd in the Championship and made the best of a bad situation. I had a blast though, it’s been a fun year.”

It was a tough day at the office for Monster Energy Kawasaki at the 8th round of the Australian Motocross Championship at Moree, NSW on Sunday 24 July. Although the team were put on the ropes at Moree, they are already looking forward to the battle next weekend with both Opens riders, Billy Mackenzie and Dean Ferris still well and truly in Championship winning contention.

After team riders Dean Ferris and Phil Nicoletti qualified in pole in the Opens and Lites classes respectively, race crashes were to rob the team of any silverware for the round. Billy Mackenzie finished the day in 6th in the Opens class. Phil Nicoletti took 7th in the Lites class while Opens rider, Dean Ferris, will have to have his fingers pried from the series leading Red Plate he’s held continuously since the 4thrd round of the series with a DNF and a DNS leaving him in 11th for the round and 3rd in the Series.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Dean Ferris has increased his 2011 Australian MX Championship lead by 1 point at the 7th round of the series at Albury, NSW on Sunday 3 July. Lites rider Phil Nicoletti took two moto wins on his way to consecutive podium finishes while Billy Mackenzie was forced to settle for 6th for the round after tough starts on a hard to pass track hampered his day.

Although he didn’t come away with a podium result for the round, Dean Ferris still did enough to not only maintain his series lead (which he’s held since the 4th round) but extend it by another valuable point. Tough starts didn’t do Ferris any favours however he rode well to gain as many points as he could each moto. Ferris took away a pair of 9th’s before heading back to the truck for lunch and rejuvenation. A 2nd place result in the third moto put the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider back in the mix and then a top five start in the final race was just what Ferris needed. A crash on the third lap put him way back in the pack however he fought hard to claw back to 5th by the time the chequered flag came out. Ferris’ 9-9-2-5 results left him in 5th for the round and extends his series lead to 14 points.
Dean Ferris says, “Everybody has one bad round, if this was mine then I’m not doing too badly. I kind of struggled out there today. The track was just so basic so everybody was going so fast. If you got a bad start then it was really hard to come through. It rained at lunch and that made the track more technical which helped. I’ll put this round in my back pocket and learn from it.”

Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Manager, Troy Carroll says, “I’m happy with the weekend. Phil had an awesome day. The fast Coonabarabran track suited his style of racing and put him back in contention for the Championship. This result will boost his confidence going into the last four rounds. It was great to see Dean put in the races that he did. He had to come from behind in two motos and fight for his results. That’s the sign of a true champion and that’s what it takes to win Championships. Billy rode an awesome first moto. He had bad luck in the second and third but showed his dominance again in the final race. We will work with both Open riders over the next two weeks and try and get them both back on the podium at Albury.”

“I’m really proud of what Monster Energy Kawasaki is doing at the moment and really thankful to all of our sponsors and associates. We’re looking forward to maintaining our success throughout the remainder of the season.”
